JANUS is about the conditions that create value.

Use this free self-check to reflect on one project, program, partnership or intervention. It is designed to help you see which conditions are strong, which may need attention, and what evidence you may need to gather next.

New to JANUS?

Project JANUS™ is a value creation framework. It helps organisations understand whether the enabling conditions are in place for value to be created, translated, sustained and evidenced across different stakeholders and settings.

This self-check is not limited to engagement. It can be used for projects, programs, partnerships, interventions, services, research translation activity or place-based work.

How to use this tool
  1. Choose one project, program or partnership to assess.
  2. Move each slider from 0–100 to show how strongly each condition is present.
  3. Read the bloom and Readiness Index as a snapshot, not a formal score.
  4. Review the top priorities and evidence prompts.
  5. Use the result to decide what to strengthen next.

Important: this is not a formal JANUS assessment or accreditation result.

Evidence next steps

Identify what evidence is needed before stronger claims, reporting or accreditation readiness.

Self-check

Move the sliders. Watch the bloom respond.

This free tool is a starting point, not a formal assessment. Use it to make an informed self-estimate of where your organisation or project currently sits across the eight Project JANUS™ conditions for value creation. If you know for sure, score accordingly. If you do not, use your best current judgement and note where evidence is still thin.

How to use the sliders

This is a reflective self-check — not a formal audit.

Each time you move a slider, ask: Where do we think our organisation currently sits on this condition? If you already have good evidence, score from that evidence. If you do not, use your best current judgement and treat the result as a hypothesis to test later.

0–25Mostly absent, weak or not yet in place
40–70Mixed, uneven or uncertain across the organisation
75–100Clearly present and increasingly supported by evidence
Evidence starter

What kind of evidence would strengthen the profile?

JANUS should not reward confidence without evidence. Use these three evidence lenses to turn the self-check into a better conversation.

Readiness Evidence

Are the conditions present?

  • Clear purpose and decision context
  • Stakeholder map and value pathway
  • Baseline condition scores
  • Known risks, gaps and safeguards
Translation Evidence

Does insight move into action?

  • Decision logs and feedback loops
  • Trace from evidence or insight to choices
  • Evidence of learning or adaptation
  • Clear account of what changed and why
Value Evidence

What changed, for whom?

  • Stakeholder-defined value
  • Outcomes, benefits and trade-offs
  • Inclusion and equity evidence
  • Longitudinal or repeated-cycle learning
Snapshot report

Your free JANUS snapshot.

Use this as an internal prompt for discussion. It is not an accreditation outcome, but it can help you decide whether to strengthen the evidence base, move into the Workbench or prepare a value creation portfolio.

Next steps

From free self-check to stronger evidence.

The self-check is deliberately open. Paid JANUS layers would support saved projects, multi-stakeholder surveys, evidence review, Method Agent analysis, benchmarking, board reports and accreditation readiness.

Free

Use the self-check

Run a quick team conversation and identify which value-creating conditions need attention.

Workbench

Build an evidence portfolio

Use the JANUS Workbench to gather evidence, compare over time and generate stakeholder and value reports.

Accreditation readiness

Prepare for review

Move from self-assessment into governed evidence review when the case is strong enough.
